Passing the Torch: Kim Hannaford DDS Announces Retirement and Successor

Kim Hannaford DDS - Announces Retirement

May 6, 2022

Dear Patient,

It won’t be a big surprise to most of you that when your dentist is approaching 70 that he might be wondering when and how he’s going to retire, and who he is going to turn his practice over to. Some of you go back over 40 years with me when I started on Broadway in Long Beach. It’s not an easy decision but the time has come.

I feel lucky to have found someone who I am comfortable with and confident in handing the keys over to. He is Dr. Ryan Escudero. In the several weeks that we have gotten to know each other I feel we share a similar approach in the way we treat our patients. He is calm, caring and thorough. He takes pride in his work and is involved in multiple dental study clubs. I have seen a portfolio of his work and I have been impressed. He not only produces beautiful dentistry but also incorporates patients’ overall health outside of the mouth. I know Dr. Escudero will take great care of all of you that I’ve had the honor to treat all these years.

Dr. E grew up in a military family in San Diego. He was a city champ as a high school wrestler and was a class valedictorian. He left UC San Diego with multiple honors and awards and continued his success at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He has 17 years of experience as a dentist and has lived in Orange Co. for over ten years. Dr. Escudero, along with his wife and their two boys, like to bike and explore, and to share as much time together as possible.

Dr E will start June 1, but I will be around for whatever time it takes for him to get settled in. Karen will help with the transition, and all your current hygiene appointments will be with your regular hygienist as scheduled.

I will be available for any of you who would like to review any of your dental past or present and give you an idea of what Dr. E might see as elective or necessary dentistry for you. I’ve had that discussion with many of you for the past couple of years. I’m confident you are in good hands with Dr. Escudero.

Thank you for your trust and confidence.

Sincerely,

Kim Hannaford DDS
